Why We Started This Firm
We believe in taking care of clients the way we would want to be treated if we were sitting on your side of the table.
Roark & Sutton was founded in December 2017 by John Roark and Michael Sutton. Both started their careers at Federated Mutual Insurance — spending six years each as Marketing Representatives with behind-the-scenes access to underwriting and corporate strategy, learning the carrier side of the business inside and out.
They then transitioned to a regional broker to learn the other side of the equation. When the opportunity arose, they bought their client book and launched their own agency.
Their time at Federated gave them something most brokers don't have: direct underwriter relationships and deep knowledge of how policies are actually written from the inside. That knowledge became the standard every R&S advisor is trained under today — so the advantage reaches every client, not just the ones the founders serve directly.
